For Tenants

RentSafe is a tenant deposit protection service that ensures you get your security deposit back fairly. If a landlord refuses to refund your deposit without valid reasons, RentSafe will legally assist in recovery.

If your landlord unfairly withholds your deposit, RentSafe will step in to negotiate, mediate, or take legal action on your behalf.

If legal action is required, RentSafe covers legal fees up to RM5,000 - RM30,000, depending on your plan.

RentSafe covers unfair withholding of deposits, such as:

  • Landlords refusing to refund without a clear reason
  • Landlords making false damage claims
  • Unauthorized deductions without proper documentation

However, RentSafe does NOT cover cases where:

  • The tenant actually caused damage or violated the contract
  • There are unpaid rental fees or outstanding utility bills

No, RentSafe is not an insurance policy. It is a legal protection service that helps tenants recover deposits fairly through negotiation, mediation, or legal support.

No. RentSafe must be purchased at the start of the tenancy or before moving in. Claims for past tenancies are not covered.
